講座詳細
It is surprising to people from abroad that Japanese people may take their newborn children to a Shinto shrine to be blessed, get married in a Christian wedding ceremony, and at the end of life have a Buddhist funeral. But if you ask most Japanese whether they are “religious,” they may reply that they are not. This course is designed for people who want to explain Japanese religions to people from abroad. The text is created with making the subject easy to understand, entertaining and interesting. We will learn how to explain the religious traditions of Japan and some of the physical objects associated with them, such as the torii, butsudan and inari. We will also consider how you can guide visitors to religious sites, famous and local. The class will be conducted at a low intermediate level in English, and everyone is welcome.
